FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Chicago (3/6/10) – The 11th-ranked Arizona State University Sun Devils made their return to the ACHA Men’s Division 1 National Tournament after a four-year absence Saturday night in Chicago. Playing in the final game of Saturday’s matchups, the Sun Devils faced the sixth-ranked Liberty University Flames at The Edge Ice Arena. Although Liberty got the better chances and held a two-goal lead through two periods, the Sun Devils stormed back with five goals in the third period and pulled off the upset with a 7-4 victory.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Tucson, Ariz. (2/27/10) – On Saturday night, the 11th-ranked Arizona State University Sun Devils closed out their regular season. They attempted to accomplish something that has happened just once before in the known history of Sun Devils’ Division 1 hockey: an eight-game season series sweep over the archrival University of Arizona Icecats. In the closest match of the series between these rivals, Danny Anderson scored 20 seconds into overtime to give Arizona State a 4-3 win at Tucson Convention Center, completing the season series sweep over Arizona.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Tucson, Ariz. (2/26/10) – For the 11th-ranked Arizona State University Sun Devils, the 2010 portion of their season has been a difficult path. Losses to Davenport, Lindenwood, and Central Oklahoma seemingly spelled the end of their National Tournament hopes. However, the announcement that the Sun Devils made the playoffs last week brought excitement throughout the program. Hoping to build on that momentum, the Devils travelled to the Tucson Convention Center to face their archrivals, the University of Arizona Icecats. For the seventh time in as many games, Arizona State came away with the victory, this time by a 5-1 margin.

VILLANOVA GAMES CANCELLED DUE TO INCLEMENT WEATHER IN PHILADELPHIA PDF Print E-mail

Sun Devil Hockey would like to apologize to our fans for the Villanova games being cancelled this weekend due to inclement weather in the Philadelphia area preventing the Wildcats from making the trip to Tempe.  ASU and Villanova are now working towards re-scheduling the games for the 2010-2011 season.

#13 UNIV. OF CENTRAL OKLAHOMA (M1) 5, #10 ARIZONA STATE UNIV. (M1) 4

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Tempe, Ariz. (2/06/10) – On Saturday night, the tenth-ranked Arizona State University Sun Devils entered a must-win situation inside Oceanside Ice Arena. Another loss to the 13th-ranked University of Central Oklahoma Bronchos and their chance at making the National Tournament in March would be all but over. The Sun Devils battled hard all night long against the Bronchos, but it was not enough as they fell 5-4.
